In my case, I have shot many XD service rifles over the past twenty years. I have a pretty good idea of what to expect when I go to the range. As a result, I am optimistic. Price XD. With 760 rounds through the gun, I had no problems. All types of ammo perform poorly in this gun.
Accuracy is good out to 25 yards. Most guns can do better with a person pulling the trigger and that seemed to be the case with my test gun. When I did my job, the gun put the bullets where they were supposed to go.
A large body armor such as the Federal HST 147-gr. JHP, Hornady Critical Duty 135-gr. FlexLock and Speer Gold Dot 124-gr. JHP + P all performed at or above expectations. All were fed and fired with 100% reliability and turned into good teams.
One of the complaints that some shooters have about the modern rifles that the players shoot is that they are not smooth. I agree that a single-shot handgun is different than a regular double-action revolver, but I don't agree that they are bad. In fact, the XD is one of the best drivers in its class. With a moderate amount of lift, there is a short pull with constant weight until the trigger breaks. I love the way it feels.

Another concern for some people is the security situation. Like most shotguns, the XD uses a hub in front of the trigger to help prevent accidental discharge.
